Geospatial sciences and technologies have the potential to empower Tribal Nations. At the same time they can also be used to aid in the "extraction" of precious resources including intellectual property and physical resources. This presentation will offer a theoretical framework and real world examples of how Indigenizing geospatial sciences maximizes benefit to indigenous communities and allows them to be full participants in the world of GIS and Remote Sensing.
